Safe Winter Driving Tips

Canadian winter is no joke. It's important to be prepared during this time of year. Even seasoned veterans and long time drivers could use a few reminders! Here are some tips!

Keeping Warm:
Stay in the car, wrap yourself up in a blanket and try not to overuse the heater. Over using the heater can kill the battery and in some cases let dangerous gases into the cabin. Keep a second set of gloves in the glove box and a set of clothes in your trunk. If your gloves or clothes get wet change them quickly to prevent you from freezing.

Don't Eat the Snow:
Eating snow in a survival situation isn’t the best idea. The snow will lower your core temperature and cause you to burn more energy. If you’re short on water, melt the snow before drinking it and you shouldn’t have a problem.

A Good Call:
If you’re going to be traveling in extreme conditions be sure to always tell someone where you are going and which route you plan to take and let them know when you arrive safely.
